Silicon Valleys Chinese American News Anchor
Terilyn Joe will be a special guest at the 2001 Chinese Summer Festival in recognition of her role as Silicon Valleys Chinese American News Anchor.
Ms. Joe joined KNTV in October 2000. Prior to that, she worked at KGO TV, the ABC-owned station in San Francisco.
For eight years, Ms. Joe co-anchored the top-rated 6 p.m. evening newscast in the market. She also co-anchored the 11 p.m. news.
Terilyn has won Emmy Awards for Anchoring or Newswriting. In addition, she has extensive reporting experience and has traveled around the world to cover breaking news.
She was in Vietnam working on a series when the Kobe earthquake struck. She immediately flew to Japan to cover the story. Terilyn also spent two weeks overseas, putting together a series on China's takeover of Hong Kong.
She flew to London to cover the death of Princess Diana, and spent a week in Hyannis Port, reporting live on the death of John F Kennedy, Jr.
Terilyn has also interviewed several celebrities and newsmakers, including President Clinton, President Carter, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Tom Hanks, and Matt Damon.
Terilyn began her television career as a reporter and anchor at CITY TV in Toronto, Canada. She then worked at the CTV Television Network in Toronto, anchoring the news on a national morning show similar to Today and Good Morning America.
When shes not working, Terilyn likes to travel and play golf. She says, My golf game is just awful, but I still have a lot of fun out there.
