CHCP’s Eighth Chinese Summer Festival

Sunday, July 22, 2001, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the 14-acre grounds of the History Park at Kelley Park, San Jose, CA.

FREE ADMISSION!

Join us at CHCP’s eighth Chinese Summer Festival. The Festival offers something for everyone!

Learn the secrets of Chinese cooking, and treat your taste buds to Asian cuisine.

Explore local Chinese American history and tradition at the Ng Shing Gung, with its first floor exhibit and the elaborately carved and gilded altar on the second floor.

Be invigorated by the energy of martial arts and the rhythm of Chinese percussion instruments.

Be charmed by Chinese songs and dances, including a 40-member chorus singing “Illusions,” the enchanting Chinese horn rendition of “Homage to the Phoenix by Birds in Hundreds” and the delightful dance of the “Little Bumble Bee.”

Learn the subtleties of Chinese aesthetics at the Chinese Artifacts Exhibit.

Children will enjoy making arts and crafts items and playing traditional games.

Young and old delight in the Golden Dragon parade and Chinese lion dance – always crowd pleasers.

An old-time calliope playing Chinese tunes is a new attraction this year.

Also for the first time at the Festival, enjoy the opportunity to take a rickshaw ride.
