Heritage Education Link Program (HELP) Grants

In conjunction with the Golden Legacy Curriculum, Chinese Historical and Cultural Project offers financial assistance for programs designed to enhance ethnic diversity education for school age children in Santa Clara County, California. There are no restrictions in regard to ethnic group or subject. However, the grants are limited to schools and nonprofit organizations in Santa Clara County, California.

  • Chi-Am Circle, CHCP Scholarship for High School Senior - May 6, 2005
  • Simonds Elementary School, San Jose
    Annual Multicultural Faire on April 29, 2005.
  • Portuguese Heritage Society of America, San Jose
    A 52-photo exhibit of Macau's unique blend of China and Portuguese architecture. This collaborative effort by the Portuguese Heritage Society of California, CASA de Macau USA, and History San Jose. The Exhibit will be open from April 15 through July 31.2005 in the Conference Room of History San Jose.

    Project: to establish a new Cultural Diversity Education Program with crafts, books, artifacts, and other cultural materials.

    Project: Multi-cultural literature and world geography

    Project: to establish "ethnic trunks" containing props, costumes, books and materials representing various ethnic cultures.

    Project: to bring both multi-cultural literature and various cultural Performance groups to the school to raise cultural awareness.
  • Kennedy School
    Project: multi-cultural "discovery trunk" -- clothes, food and homes from around the world.
  • Majestic Way Elementary School, San Jose
    Kindergarten Project: Thematically taught subjects including cooking and music -- Cinco de Mayo (Mexico), Children's Day (Japan), Chinese New Year (China).
  • Primary Plus School, San Jose
    Cooking Projects: 8 different countries, with supportive music, dance, stories, crafts activities from Greece, Japan, Italy, China, and Spain.
  • San Anselmo School, San Jose
    Project: Purchase of multi-cultural books and audio tapes.
  • James B. Randol Elementary School, San Jose
    Project: Program to write letters to Russian pen pals, prepare a video tape to mail to Russian penpals, study the music and literature of the Russian people, learn Russian folk songs and participate in a Russian tea party.
  • James B. Randol Elementary School, San Jose
    Diversity Day Project: Entire student body to celebrate diversity through a series of lessons and activities. Each class will share an activity-based lesson focused on a particular culture. Competed lessons will result in a cultural artifact reflective of the culture being studied.
  • San Jose Dance Theatre, San Jose
    Scholarship Project: to encourage full participation of ethnically diverse students in its professional training program; ethnic diversity in the artists and teachers of dance.
  • Pearl Zanker Elementary School, Milpitas
    Project: Various ethnic holidays around the world.
  • Chinese Performing Artists of America
    CPAA's mission is to introduce Chinese culture to the American society through performing arts. They perform mainly for schools in the Bay Area.
