The next Committee of 100 (C100) Asian American Career Ceilings Initiative event, featuring a fireside chat on the topic "Are Asian Americans Paid Less in Business" will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 8:00 to 9:00 pm ET (5:00 to 6:00 pm PT). This webinar will include a panel discussion, Q&A, and a networking session at the end. There is no fee to attend.
The webinar will feature findings from a recent study conducted by Professor Jackson Lu of the Sloan School at MIT, and a discussion with Professor Lu, Kweilin Ellingrud, McKinsey Global Institute Director and Senior Partner in the Minneapolis office, and Jackie Wong, Associate Partner in McKinsey’s Philadelphia office. Kweilin and Jackie were two of the co-authors of a McKinsey report titled, “Asian American Workers: Diverse Outcomes and Hidden Challenges." Peter Young, Chair of the Initiative and a Committee of 100 Member, will be the moderator.
One of the hotly debated topics in this country is whether Asian Americans are paid less overall and in business and, if so, why that is the case. Our three panelists will show that at least in the business community Asian Americans are paid less. They will share their data on how bad the situation is, but more importantly will talk about why there is a pay gap and what can be done by society and each of you as individuals to combat the problem.
