San Francisco Chinatown is the birthplace of Chinese American lion dancing in the U.S. over 100 years ago, and is currently home to some of the most respected and recognized lion dance performers in the country.
The second annual Chinatown Lion Dance Festival makes its return July 22-23, 2023, with a conglomeration of culture and community that will create a truly captivating exhibition and foster the spirit of friendly competition. Come experience this one-of-a-kind gathering with lion dance, martial arts, and dance troupes and schools from around the country performing their unique styles. The goal of this FREE event is to uplift the San Francisco Chinatown community through the sharing of this timeless cultural art form.
The Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA) is proud to sponsor and help present this event with the partnership of Mike Mak of TPS Motorsports (Mike is a CHCP Board member) and the support of Sing Tao Daily, the San Francisco Chinatown Visitor Information Center (SFCVIC), and CHCP.
