For Women's Heritage Day at History Park, History San Jose will honor the achievements and contributions of women throughout Santa Clara Valley's history!
This year, Mosaic America will feature a vibrant lineup of cultural performances and hands-on workshops. The beloved Poetry Lounge returns to the Empire Firehouse, and ChALE will present a Woman-owned lowrider and classic car show you won’t want to miss. History San José will host interactive craft stations highlighting local historical figures, with historic buildings and indoor exhibitions open to the public. Delicious drinks and treats will be available for purchase at the newly reopened O'Brien's as well as onsite food trucks. Plus, enjoy a wide variety of outdoor vendors and community organization booths throughout History Park!
For Women's Heritage Day, CHCP will screen several short videos on the 2nd floor of the Chinese American Historical Museum. These videos celebrate contributions and accomplishments of Chinese women from past and present, and were created by members of CHCP's Student Docent Cultural Ambassador Program (SDCAP). Two Bay Area women being celebrated are CHCP Advisory Board Member/Historian Connie Young Yu and author/journalist Iris Chang.
The Chinese American Historical Museum (CAHM) is housed in the Ng Shing Gung building, which is part of History Park, located in Kelley Park, San Jose.
