Please join the San Jose City Council on April 28th at 1:30 pm when the City Council will meet and consider the park master plan and park naming for the new park at Rinconada Drive. Item 7.1 on the Agenda will be for the new park.
The name, Bill Kee Park, has been submitted and is under consideration as one of the eligible names for the park. Bill Kee (1902-1989), father of CHCP Co-Founder/Trustee Gerrye Wong, was a Chinese American entrepreneur and community organizer in San José from 1937-1947. As a spokesman for the San Jose Chinatown community, he led an effort to preserve the original 1888 Ng Shing Gung temple as a historic landmark, the last remaining building from the Heinlenville Chinatown. (Learn more about Bill Kee's legacy.)
A Staff Memo has been submitted with the park name recommendation and name history.
Come and support the naming of the new park! Please feel free to share this information with others.
